The Fallbrook Community Foundation was started by newcomers trying to find information about Fallbrook CA, one of the most vibrant little towns in America with an active arts and music scene, beautiful landscaping maintained by volunteers, and a terrific downtown! Information about local news and events, historic sites and great parks is splashed across dozens of websites and it’s hard to find.
Our first project was FallbrookFireSafety.com — we’re in a wildfire-prone area, with only three 2-lane highways to use for wildfire evacuation. A terrific evacuation map existed, but it was hard to find, so we re-posted it along with local information about where to get wildfire updates and evacuation orders.
Our next project was EverythingFallbrook.org — a free local events and resources website that has been in operation since fall 2020. Initially it was a pandemic project, but we quickly realized that we weren’t the only people in town who didn’t know what was going on! A lifelong resident, a volunteerism advocate in her 90s who is very plugged in to the community told us that she learned new things from our website. Volunteers provide content, we’re on lots and lots of mailing local lists, and the editor Harriett compiles material and writes articles.
We applied for nonprofit status in 2021 so that we could take tax deductible donations in order to cover our costs and expand our coverage. We are committed to providing free local information to strengthen our community and engage residents with all our town has to offer.
We’ve got other projects in the works so stay tuned!
Our board of directors are all local, committed to providing free local information that’s relevant to our residents.
